Guided Wave - GWT

RedScope can provide you an assessment on the structural integrity of your buried piping application using Guided Wave.

Use on Large Volume Piping With Limited Access

Guided wave (GWT) ultrasonics are utilized for the rapid scanning of large volume of piping systems. Unlike traditional ultrasonic testing where measurements are taken on small sections at time, GWT utilizes a ring of transducers that is placed around the outer diameter of the pipe and emits sound waves that are sent along the pipe in both directions from the ring.

The wave energy can detect various flaws and anomalies up to and including the presence of pipe wrap systems and mechanical features such as elbows etc...

Best Use

GWT are best used as a screening tool as part of a more comprehensive strategy that pinpoints where more extensive volumetric examinations should be performed.
